Use your words…

What do you think of when you see this picture? You may know, it is a picture of my favorite book/story/movie/cartoon and everything, Alice in Wonderland.

This is the White Rabbit. Anytime the Red Queen announces a thing, he comes charging in, blaring his trumpet, and yells in the midst of the assembly what the Queen is saying. We would say he is a Herald. You know in old movies where one would walk through the streets, ringing a bell, exclaiming, “Hear ye! Hear ye!” What was given by royal decree, was now law.

We talk a lot about words at Calvary. I just can’t seem to get away from the subject. The Bible says,

The words you say, will either acquit you or condemn you.

Matthew 12:37

Wow! Words matter. It is one of the most successful tactics of the enemy to get Christians blinded to the fact that our spoken words have GREAT power and GREAT impact.

He gets us to question and ignore the fact that the Bible says,

“I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven and whatever you loose on Earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Matthew 18:18

All with this goal in mind,

‘If I can keep Gods children from speaking, I can keep them from experiencing.” – Satan aka the Devil

Ever try to console a 2-year old that is throwing a fit? Legs kicking, arms flailing, screaming and crying. All because their tower of blocks got knocked over. I have 4 children, all of which responded greatly to my prompting of, “use your words.” After a minute of taking some breaths, they were able to respond in discernable English, with actual words. Only then was I able to help them.

When our tower of life comes crashing down on us, with no warning, explanation or sense usually, we have an inner 2-year old that loses it. Our soul begins to flail, kick and scream and as adults we sometimes go flying off at the mouth, letting whatever is inside be let out of the garage of our lips. Bam. Life was just set on a course, according to James 3:6.

God the Father watches, places His hands on our shoulders and lovingly says, “use your words. I’ve given them to you to use to your advantage.”

In Job 22:28, the Bible says,

Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

This verse and the above mentioned both starts with YOU. This verse states that you must decree something, with your words.

Without issuing that decree, nothing can be established, and there will be darkness.

What is a decree?

It is an official command, the establishment of a thing in a militant way or issuing an official order.

A decree is a decision of a king or government.

It is an order having the force of law behind it. That is, you’re not just saying it; something is backing it up. It is to ordain a thing. It is to decide what is to be done and what has to take place.

Remember Matthew 18:18, What you bind or loose, Heaven does!  It’s not in your power, the power lies in the one that is for you! And that power lives in you! And if God is for you, who can be against? NO-thing.

The thing is, it’s up to you. No amount of prayer on your behalf can intercept the words you speak of your life or lack thereof.  We see this truth reinforced in Joel, “let the weak say they are strong.” The weak can’t simply wait for someone to tell them they are strong. They must decree it over their own life while they are in a place of weakness. It’s not denying what is happening, but it IS denying what is happening to be your identity.  When you decree a thing that is contrary to what you experience with all of your human faculties, you are planting seeds in the ground today that change what you will experience tomorrow. “Let the weak SAY they are strong.  Let the poor SAY they are rich.”

You don’t have to experience it first for it to be the truth.

If the Word says it, you can have it, be it, experience it.  Begin by decreeing over your life the things that God has already spoken to you in His Word.

Now tell them this: Declares the Lord, ‘I will do to them the very things I heard them say.’

Numbers 14:28

Heaven is ready to perform on our behalf what we decree today!
