Train Your Brain to Reign – Part 5
Next Train Your Brain to Reign – Part 5
III. BONDAGE TO BOUNDARIES
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
Dictionary definition of “boundary” – something that indicates a border or limit.
Note: So many people live with the frustration that they can’t seem to go beyond where they are at in life. Maybe you are one of them. You feel “locked in” to something you did not choose for yourself. You desire more but can’t seem to move into your dreams for your future. The fact for us to swallow is the truth that “You Create Your Own Limitations!”
1. The Limits you place on Yourself!
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
Note: If you read the details of what surrounded these people’s evaluation of themselves you will discover that the challenges that lay before them were greater and stronger than the perceptions of their own capabilities to meet those challenges. They knew how to “Build Up” their Impossibilities, but did not know how to built up their own Capabilities! The words “in our own sight” actually mean – in our own mental and spiritual qualities.
Question: In the light of your own challenges, ask yourself, “What do I build up? What do I limit? Do I Build up the Impossibilities of what I am facing or do I Build up my Capabilities to Overcome the Impossibilities that I am facing?”
Note: You must realize that if you Limit Yourself in your ability to overcome you will limit the Power that causes you to Overcome. In our scripture, you will notice that the sequence of events that led these people to be defeated by their circumstances was in the fact that, first they “turned back” because they put limits on themselves. This then resulted in putting a “limit on the Holy One of Israel.”
2. The Limits you place on the Possibilities around you!
II Kings 6:15
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
Note: In this incident, two men are faced with the same difficulty, one can see no possibility of escape or change in his favor. His perceptions of the reality around him have caused him to limit any possibilities working for him. He has limited the Potential Possibilities because He cannot see beyond the Immediate Realities!
Question: Does this describe you? Ask yourself, “Do I limit what could happen because I focus on what hasn’t happened? Do I determine the possibilities that could unfold for me tomorrow, because I am in BONDAGE to the impossibilities I face today!” If your miracles are about to unfold in your tomorrow, how will you get them when your bound to today?
Note: Elisha is the other man. He is facing the same impossibility, being that the odds are totally against him. The difference between him and the young man with him is this – He doesn’t live within the boundaries of Impossibility, He lives by the boundless measure of Possibility! He has learned to look where few people have – HE HAS LEARNED TO LOOK BEYOND THE MOMENT TO SEE INTO THE FUTURE! He knows, if you allow what happens today to dictate to you what will happen tomorrow, you will live tomorrow the same way you live today!
The solution for the one living in the boundaries that “impossibility thinking” creates was this:
Scripture: II Kings 6:16
And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
a. “Fear not” – This means to be afraid and give respect to. What you respect you give authority to! You allow it to influence your thinking and your reactions! You bow to what you respect and fear! What you bow to will always rule over you!
Question: “What are you bowing to?” Ask yourself, “Is this what I want to give authority to in running my life now and where I’m going tomorrow?”
b. “open his eyes, that he may see” – This collection of words carry the meaning that the mental and spiritual faculties must look to see ANOTHER REALITY! It actually means that something is there that hasn’t been seen yet because of the limitations that present realities place on you! IF YOU WANT TO SEE WHAT YOU’VE NEVER SEEN, THAN YOU MUST LEARN TO LOOK WHERE YOU’VE NEVER LOOKED!
Scripture: Mark 9:23
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
3. The Limits you place on God!
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
Note: For most people, their faith in God’s Power to Perform is limited to the point of their Own Power to Perform! Once you can’t do anything about it anymore, you take on the belief system that God’s not doing anything about it anymore. At that point you begin the -“Why aren’t you hearing me?” and the “Why aren’t you doing anything?” – kind of prayers. When the Pressure remained within your own power to handle it, you kept the faith and the testimony of what you believed God would do. Once the Pressure reached the point beyond your Own Power and tolerance level, suddenly your belief system shifts to – “Why even pray anymore, nothing’s going to happen anyway?”
Question: Ask yourself, “Do I Limit God, once I’ve reached my Limit? Think of the ways you Limit God:
a. Time – When your difficulty drags on for a certain period of time to the limit you can no longer endure, do you LIMIT Him by concluding, “Well I guess it’s not going to happen after all!”
b. Reality – When the “Realities” of your situation seem to increase toward the negative to the point where you’ve reached your limits of Faith, do you LIMIT HIM by concluding, “I’m tired of fighting and trying to believe. I don’t understand why God won’t hear me and do something?”
c. Relationships – When you’re in the presence of others around you, who know your situation, do their negative reactions and words create a limit on what you believe could happen? When they share how things didn’t turn out so well for themselves or someone they knew who were “believing God” for the same thing you are now believing God for, do you LIMIT HIM in your life based on someone else’s experience?
Note: What do you think might of happened at the end of the story referred to in our scripture if Jairus would have came to the conclusions, “I guess it’s to late! I guess it’s gone beyond the point of any hopes of my getting a miracle? I guess I should pay attention to what the messenger just related to me!”
Question: Ask yourself, “Is placing a LIMIT ON GOD due to my limited ability to handle the time factor, the mounting pressures of the present reality of the situation, and what I’ve heard others tell me about their own defeats, is this worth the loss of my own MIRACLE!
Note: These factors don’t determine your miracle unless you allow them to. They have no power to limit what could happen for you, but YOU DO HAVE THE POWER TO LIMIT what could happen for you! You are making a decision to be shaken by the situation or to move the situation!
ONE MOVES IMPOSSIBILITIES, ANOTHER IS MOVED BY IMPOSSIBILITIES!
- Settle this once and for all, and determine what you want to live with:
- You choose to LIMIT GOD and He will LIMIT what he does for you!
- You put NO LIMIT ON GOD and HE will put NO LIMIT on what HE will do for you!
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
